The Dwarf Eggs scandal took a strange turn at a Council press conference, when GNN asked whether the eggs might be orcish.
Elder Gurglax, sweating heavily, denied it. "Of course not, you buffoon!" he sputtered. "Orcs aren't real! They're mythical creatures, like unicorns and sober gnomes!"
Grungle Gristle, covering the conference for GNN, raised an eyebrow. "With respect, Elder, unicorns and sober gnomes are indeed imaginary. But orcs are documented in numerous historical texts and eyewitness accounts. Are you saying those were all made up?"
"I... uh... well... the point is, these eggs are not orcish!" Gurglax replied. "They're probably mutated chicken eggs or something!"
The answer has only fed speculation. Goblins are asking whether the Council is incompetent or deliberately downplaying an orc threat, and are leaning toward both.
GNN's investigative team is now scouring ancient texts and consulting orc experts, who may or may not exist. Until then, stop eating Dwarf Eggs and keep an eye out for green-skinned, tusked individuals lurking in the shadows, who, according to the Council, are not there.
