The titanic shredder has arrived, and it is hungry.
GNN reporters disguised as potted plants watched the Goblin Council of Elders feed the nation's archives and libraries into it: incriminating Council records, truthful news reports and classic works of goblin literature, all going in the same slot.
"It's a massacre of information," said Grungle Gristle, GNN's Chief Analyst, from inside his leafy disguise. "They're not just shredding evidence of their own corruption. They're erasing our history, our culture, our identity."
The shredder has since moved on to other media. Vinyl records and floppy disks are going into its maw, and the air outside headquarters smells of burning plastic and the anguished cries of goblin librarians.
Protesters have taken to the streets waving tattered books and chanting "Save our stories!" and "Down with the censors!" The Council has not explained itself.
GNN will keep broadcasting from a secret bunker, by carrier pigeon if it has to. The potted plants have been asked to water themselves.
