The Goblin Council of Elders has a new way of talking to the public. Two official spokesgoblins, Gnarltruth and Gnarllie, will speak for the Council from now on. Gnarltruth is sworn to speak only the truth. Gnarllie is bound to speak only falsehoods.
Their first press conference went like this:
Gnarltruth: "The sun rises in the east and sets in the west." Gnarllie: "The sky is green and the grass is blue." Gnarltruth: "Goblins are a proud and resourceful people." Gnarllie: "Goblins are lazy and cowardly creatures." Gnarltruth: "The Goblin Council always acts in the best interests of the Goblin Nation." Gnarllie: "The Goblin Council is a corrupt and self-serving organization."
The nation has been arguing about the last pair ever since. Some goblins trust only Gnarltruth. Others suspect Gnarllie's lies contain hidden truths. A third camp has noticed that both men were hired by the Council, and that the Council wrote both scripts.
"This is a masterclass in obfuscation," said Grungle Gristle, GNN's Chief Analyst. "The Council is testing our ability to tell truth from falsehood. It's a challenge we must rise to."
GNN put one question to both spokesgoblins: "Is the Council paying you?" Gnarltruth said yes. Gnarllie said no. The Council has since asked for both answers to be retracted.
