The Goblin Council of Elders has found a new line of defense in the Gurglax scandal: the evidence came out of a piñata, and nobody believes a piñata.
"It's preposterous," Elder Gnarltooth told a hastily convened press conference. "Who in their right mind would trust information obtained from a candy-filled toy? This is a desperate attempt by our enemies to smear our good names."
Grungle Gristle, GNN's Chief Analyst, called it deflection. "The Council has been caught red-handed and is grasping at straws," he said. "The documents are slightly singed and sticky, but they are authentic, and they detail Gurglax's illicit dealings line by line. The truth comes out even when it's wrapped in confetti."
The nation is demanding a full and transparent investigation. Goblins are reminded that a piñata is not a reliable source of news, except this once, and that GNN, which is a reliable source of news, got this one from a piñata.
