The Goblin Nation is in the middle of a papier-mâché boom, fed by a sudden flood of shredded paper of unknown origin. Goblin artisans, who love anything sticky and messy, are turning the scraps into figurines, elaborate masks and life-sized replicas of the Goblin Council of Elders, for target practice.
GNN's economics desk has traced the paper to a series of covert drops by the Goblin Intelligence Agency (GIA). The GIA won't say where it came from. Sources suggest classified documents, intercepted enemy communications, or the Council's latest attempt to rewrite history.
Wherever it's from, shredded paper is now a hot commodity. Black-market dealers are fighting over supply, prices have soared, and goblins are trading fermented mushroom juice and enchanted socks for a few precious handfuls.
"This is a testament to goblin resilience," said Grungle Gristle, a freelance GNN contributor and avid papier-mâché enthusiast, unveiling his latest work: a life-sized replica of himself riding a giant snail. "We goblins can turn anything into art, even shredded government documents."
Workshops are popping up in caves and alleyways, with goblins of every age learning to turn trash into treasure.
GNN is not responsible for paper cuts, glue injuries or the accidental summoning of paper golems. One has already been reported in the market district. It is mostly orcish.
