Goblin Book Clubs Take a Dystopian Turn as Orwell and Huxley Sweep Mudwick Isle

Published: December 8, 2024 at 3:00 PM

Mudwick Isle's book clubs have discovered dystopian science fiction, and it is going about as well as you'd expect.

Clubs that used to argue over cookbooks are now reading 1984 and Brave New World aloud and taking notes. Witnesses describe secret societies forming in the reading rooms and an unhealthy interest in mind-control devices.

Supreme Leader Grungle has been seen wearing an earpiece that whispers to him constantly. His office says it's a podcast. The podcast is his own.

Some say the books have triggered a national existential crisis. Others believe a rogue faction is using them as manuals to overthrow Grungle and build a new order of total surveillance.

The surveillance faction met Thursday. Attendance was taken by everyone, of everyone, several times.

GNN has asked the clubs to read something lighter next month. They have chosen Animal Farm.
