Another goblin settlement has vanished, leaving no trace of its inhabitants or their belongings. It is the third such disappearance this month.
Suspicion has fallen on the pixies, whose magic is rumored to warp reality and whose sense of humor is known to be terrible.
"Pixies are not to be underestimated," said Grungle Gristle, GNN's Chief Analyst, filling in on the paranormal desk. "They may be small, but their magic is subtle and insidious. It can twist the fabric of reality itself, or at least the fabric of your trousers."
Witnesses near the vanished settlement reported strange lights in the night sky, whispering in the forest and a smell of cotton candy and burnt toast in the days before it disappeared.
The Goblin Council of Elders has opened an investigation and found nothing. Some Council members believe the pixies are playing pranks; others fear a darker agenda. In the meantime goblins are advised to lock their doors at night and to avoid glowing mushrooms, giggling in the wind and anyone offering cotton candy that smells like toast.
