Continuous updates on the GoblinLife.org data breach and its fallout. Newest first; scroll to the bottom for the earliest updates.

24-hour update: data leak and fallout

The Bear Builders Workshop Federation has released the GoblinLife.org data after GG's Monero transaction failed due to insufficient gas fees, causing an indefinite delay. Monero does not have gas fees. GG paid them anyway.

The leaked data consists of a vast collection of Pepe the Frog memes with Chinese captions.

The Chinese government has thanked the hackers for making the memes public. GG now faces disgrace and accusations of meme hoarding, anti-American sentiment and collaboration with terrorists, the terrorists in question being the hackers GG was negotiating with.

Ultimatum issued

The Bear Builders Workshop Federation has cracked the GoblinLife.org code and issued a 24-hour ultimatum: pay up, or the decrypted data goes public.

GG's panicked response

GoblinLife.org founder GG, visibly rattled by the Federation's progress, has expressed a hesitant willingness to negotiate, but refuses to pay the full $200 ransom.

Federation breakthrough

The black hat team has discovered a connection between the GoblinLife.org data and Leonardo da Vinci, in the manner of a Dan Brown novel. They are using TensorFlow GPUs to decode the 1.6 petabytes of encrypted data.

Federation update

The black hat team claims to be nearing a breakthrough in deciphering the GoblinLife.org code, putting increasing pressure on the site.

Founder's response

The mullet-sporting GoblinLife.org founder refuses to negotiate. "We do not negotiate with terrorists," GG said. "We'd rather have our five quadrillion user accounts compromised than pay a single penny to hackers."

Update: source code leaked

Hackers have exploited the vulnerability, leaking the site's source code through a SQL injection into its NoSQL database. They now possess a set of cryptic emoji-based hash maps and are unsure what they are for. So is GG. They demand $200 in Sam's Club gift cards or Monero for the data's destruction.

Breaking: zero-day in GoblinLife.org

A zero-day vulnerability has been discovered in GoblinLife.org. While following the Oracle's advice to reinstall dependencies, webmaster GG mistakenly installed Node.js version 2.4 instead of the latest Node 24. This critical error exposes the site to attack. Stay tuned for updates.
