Party Foul at Groovy Grotto: Dread Ref Rains on Goblin Parade

Published: June 26, 2025 at 11:10 PM

The Goblin Gaming Group's after-party for Dennis Rodman's visit took a chilling turn at the Groovy Grotto when a spectral figure materialized on the dance floor, sending goblins fleeing and fermented beverages across the sticky floor.

Goblin paranormal experts have identified the guest as a Dread Ref: a spectral entity with strict views on the rules of the game and a penchant for phantom technical fouls. It appeared as a towering figure cloaked in darkness, eyes glowing green, and immediately began enforcing its own version of sportsmanship, penalizing goblins for excessive celebration, questionable dance moves and prohibited substances, namely fermented mushroom cocktails.

"Foul! Excessive twerking!" the Dread Ref boomed. "Ten minutes in the penalty box for the goblin in the leopard-print loincloth!"

Goblins, used to a more relaxed approach to partying, were bewildered and outraged. Some tried to bribe the ref with shiny trinkets and mushroom-infused body lotion. The ref flagged them for it.

The situation escalated when the Dread Ref summoned a crew of phantom referees. Grotto bouncers, armed with glow sticks and questionable tranquilizer darts, were powerless.

Rodman found the whole thing hilarious. "I told you so!" he cackled, sipping a fermented mushroom margarita from a hollowed-out coconut. "Those b-ball ghosts are ruthless!"

As goblins took refuge in the bathrooms and VIP lounges, the Goblin Council of Elders arrived. Elder Gnarltooth, annoyed at the interruption to his groove, tried to reason with the Dread Ref and was ejected from the club for "excessive gesticulation and questionable attire."

The Grotto was evacuated, leaving the phantom crew to celebrate on their own. It has since reopened. A sign at the door now reads "No Twerking After the Whistle."
