Scientists at the Institute of Questionable Science (IQS), hours after vaporizing their mice, have found a duplication glitch in the matrix of existence.
The glitch lets a goblin create unlimited copies of any object, from gold coins to fermented mushroom juice, by sacrificing another item of equal mass. The IQS tested its limits by sacrificing everything in sight: lab equipment, furniture, their colleagues' prized possessions and, eventually, the buildings.
Within hours the entire university campus had become a landscape of duplicates: mountains of gold coins, rivers of fermented mushroom juice and a disturbingly large collection of rubber chickens.
"It was glorious," said Grungle Gristle, GNN's Chief Analyst, who narrowly escaped being duplicated into a pile of socks. "The chaos, the creativity, the total disregard for safety regulations. A true testament to the goblin spirit of innovation."
The celebration was short. The university was gone, leaving students nowhere to study and professors nowhere to conduct dubious experiments.
The Goblin Council of Elders, thrilled at first by the prospect of unlimited wealth, has condemned the IQS. "They have unleashed chaos upon the Goblin Nation," thundered Elder Gnarltooth. "We must reverse this glitch before it consumes us all."
The economy is already in turmoil. With gold coins in infinite supply, prices have collapsed and goblins are bartering in rubber chickens, the only thing nobody wants more of.
