The United Nations has condemned the Goblin Council of Elders for its display of meteorological aggression against Rigatonia. The Security Council expressed deep concern at the risk of ecological disaster and danger to innocent lives.
"The Goblin Council's reckless disregard for international law and the safety of others is unacceptable," said the Secretary-General, who raised the case of Atlantis lying in the path of the Council's manufactured whirlpool. "We cannot allow such irresponsible behavior to go unchecked. The world must stand united against this threat to global stability."
The Security Council hinted at sanctions if the Goblin Nation continues, possibly including trade restrictions, travel bans and a ban on exports of fermented mushrooms, which would be a severe blow to the goblin economy.
The Council called the concerns "overblown" and "unwarranted." Grungle, in a characteristically sarcastic reply, questioned the UN's authority to interfere in goblin affairs and reminded it of the Goblin Nation's sovereign right to control its own weather, a right no international treaty or legal precedent recognizes.
In Rigatonia, citizens celebrated the condemnation as vindication of their struggle and called on the international community to pressure the Council. The standoff continues. Whether it opens a new era of cooperation between goblins and humans or a global conflict is not yet clear.
