The Noodle Prophet, once hailed as a visionary leader and spiritual guide, has fallen from grace. The U-turn on gambling and alcohol, and the unceremonious binning of the Gospel of the Noodly Prophet, have cast doubt on their legitimacy and disillusioned their followers.
"I feel betrayed," said one former devotee, clutching a half-eaten bowl of pasta. "I thought the Noodle Prophet was different, a beacon of morality. Turns out they're as corrupt and self-serving as the rest of the Council."
The Re-Reformed Reimagined Pastafarian movement is losing members by the thousand. Goblins are returning to their old ways and seeking other sources of spiritual guidance, among them the discarded Gospel itself, which has become a sought-after collector's item.
The Goblin Council of Elders, sensing a chance to take back control, has denounced Re-Reformed Reimagined Pastafarianism as a "dangerous cult" and a "threat to goblin society."
The triumph was short-lived. During an emergency meeting on the Prophet's downfall, a hobgoblin assassin in black leather, carrying a wickedly sharp dagger, materialized in the council chambers. In one swift, precise movement the assassin seized the Prophet and dragged them into a swirling vortex. Elder Gnarlfang, who had leaned in for a better look, went with them. The vortex vanished as quickly as it had appeared.
The remaining elders could only watch. The Council is left in disarray, with three members, and the public is uneasy.
"This is a dark omen," whispered Elder Gurglax, trembling. "A hobgoblin assassin could be the sign of a greater threat to our nation. We must remain vigilant and prepare for the worst."
He then moved his chair well away from the middle of the room.
