Goblin industry is leading the world in two sectors that have nothing to do with each other: mining rare minerals from asteroids, and designing pyramid schemes.
Goblin tunneling technique, it turns out, works just as well on a space rock as on a mountain, and goblin greed works anywhere. The minerals they bring back are essential to a long list of technologies, none of which goblins use.
The mining money is funding the second industry. Goblin pyramid schemes, intricate and largely nonsensical, promise investors untold riches and membership in exclusive goblin-only social clubs. The social clubs are real. They are held in the same cave every Tuesday.
Some economists worry about sustainability. The Goblin Chamber of Commerce has praised both industries' "entrepreneurial spirit."
The two sectors merged this week, when a goblin firm began selling shares in an asteroid that does not exist, to investors who must each recruit three more.
