Cambodia's second-ever submarine, the Unsinkable II, split in two during a routine patrol in the South China Sea this week when the dwarven armada, sailing home from the Freedonian non-war, passed directly over it.
The entire crew was rescued by nearby goblin fishing boats. The sailors, shaken and draped in seaweed, thanked their rescuers between coughing up seawater and apologizing for the inconvenience.
Cambodia lost its first submarine to the Council's whirlpool in February, after which it surrendered and became a vassal of the Goblin Nation. As a vassal, it has asked the Goblin Council of Elders to issue a statement on its behalf condemning the dwarves and demanding reparations.
Asked for comment, Elder Gnarltooth shrugged. "Cambodia? Who?"
The Cambodian public and its goblin allies are outraged, accusing the Council of abandoning its vassal in its hour of need.
"This is a major diplomatic blunder," said Grungle Parleyworth, GNN's diplomatic correspondent, who is surprisingly well-versed in international law. "Ignoring Cambodia tells the world the Council is an unreliable ally and an uncaring overlord."
Cambodia is now trying to salvage both halves of the submarine and its national pride. GNN urges the Council to offer support. A little empathy and a few gold coins go a long way, and a third submarine would be named Unsinkable III.
