After the disastrous debut of The Bus, goblin engineers are scrambling for a more efficient, less chaotic solution, and have turned to the human wizarding world for inspiration: the enchanted Knight Bus from the "Harry Potter" series.
"We were skeptical of human technology," admitted Grungle Gearhead, lead engineer. "But after watching the Knight Bus navigate crowded streets, teleport between locations and shrink to fit through tight spaces, we realized these so-called 'wizards' might have something to teach us."
The engineers are especially taken with the Knight Bus's minimalist crew: a shrunken head that shouts at the driver and a frail human conductor named Stan Shunpike.
"If they can run a magical bus with two guys, surely we can do the same with our technological prowess," Gearhead mused. "We currently have 340 guys. And a mosh pit."
The goblins have begun experimenting with shrinking technology, hoping to create a miniature goblin head to serve as The Bus 2.0's onboard navigation system. Volunteers have been slow to come forward. The engineers are also seeking a human conductor, offering a lifetime supply of fermented mushroom ale.
"We can build a bus as magical as the Knight Bus, with a distinctly goblin flair," said Gearhead. "Imagine a bus that runs on mushroom fuel, has a built-in mosh pit and can transform into a giant war machine at the push of a button."
Asked whether it would also arrive on time, Gearhead said that was not the kind of magic he believes in.
