MLB Cries Foul as Blaseball Mania Sweeps Goblin Nation, Austin Madres Face Financial Ruin

Published: June 4, 2025 at 5:15 PM

The resurgence of Blaseball on Mudwick Isle has sent shockwaves through the human sporting world, and Major League Baseball is reportedly fuming. The Austin Madres, once the pride of goblin baseball fandom and the official team of the Goblin News Network, have watched their popularity collapse as goblins flock to the chaotic and unpredictable alternative.

Sources inside MLB cite a steep drop in Madres merchandise sales, viewership and attendance.

"We invested heavily in the goblin market," said a high-ranking MLB official, speaking on condition of anonymity. "We made fermented-mushroom-flavored sunflower seeds. We made glow-in-the-dark caps. And now all they care about is Blaseball and their ridiculous Solar Eclipse games."

The Madres stadium, once packed with cheering goblins, now holds a few tumbleweeds and one forlorn hot dog vendor. Rumors of bankruptcy are swirling, and several players are said to be considering careers in professional mud wrestling.

GNN, once the Madres' loudest supporter, has left the team in the dust. Grungle, the disgraced former GGG CEO who used to call Madres games on GNN, was seen recording an episode of Grungle's Garage Gab in a "Crabs! Crabs! Crabs!" shirt, a clear sign of his new allegiance to the Baltimore Crabs, a Blaseball team known for its eccentric mascot and for stealing bases (literally, and keeping them).

The Goblin Nation, meanwhile, remains unaware of its impact on human sport. Goblins continue to argue pitching strategy and bet on games that defy all logic and reason. The Madres have asked GNN for a comment on their plight. GNN was watching Blaseball.
