Panic has erupted in the Goblin Council chambers after Elder Gnarltooth, citing a recent scientific study, proposed a radical "One Goblin" policy to head off the extinction of the goblin race.
"The numbers don't lie!" Gnarltooth croaked, waving a scroll of complex equations and ominous graphs. "In a mere infinity generations, goblins will be as extinct as the dodo! We must act now!"
The policy would limit every goblin couple to one offspring, a drastic break with the current "more is more" approach to goblin procreation.
Opposition is led by Glurp, the GGG's former Vice President of Ethics and the loudest voice in the Council's public gallery, who calls the study's findings flawed.
"Infinity generations? That's a long time!" Glurp shouted from the gallery. "By then we'll have conquered the universe and invented immortality potions! This is just another attempt by the old guard to control our lives!"
Debate is expected to last weeks, if not months. In the meantime, goblin couples are advised to hold off on the baby-making until the Council decides. Goblin couples have been advised of many things.
