The Australian government has issued a stern warning to GNN, demanding an immediate retraction of its claim that Australians enjoy Foster's. The remark, made in GNN's report on the goblin-Australian connection, has caused outrage in Canberra.
"Foster's is not the nectar of the gods, but it's ours, and we won't stand for this slander!" thundered a spokesperson for the Australian foreign ministry. "We demand an immediate apology and a full retraction, or we will be forced to take drastic measures."
Those measures reportedly include an embargo on Vegemite exports to the Goblin Nation, a move that could cripple the goblin economy and set off a culinary crisis.
The Goblin Council of Elders, caught off guard, has issued a groveling apology, blaming the remark on a rogue GNN intern who was "misinformed" and possibly under the influence of fermented kiwi juice.
"We deeply regret any offense caused by our inaccurate reporting," Elder Gnarltooth mumbled over the sound of a didgeridoo playing in the background. "We acknowledge that Foster's is not a popular beverage among Australians, and we apologize for our cultural insensitivity."
To mend fences, the Council has offered to send a delegation to Australia bearing rare gemstones, fermented mushroom delicacies and a signed apology from Grungle himself, in his signature crayon.
Australia has not said whether it will lift the threat. Vegemite supplies on Mudwick Isle are already dwindling and black-market prices are soaring. The rogue intern has been reassigned to Doom Watch.
