The council chambers are buzzing with debate over a pressing question: the right to bear extremely small arms. The debate, sparked by the recent troll uprising and the Council's handling of it, has split the Goblin Nation over public safety, individual liberty and the definition of "extremely small."
Supporters call it a fundamental goblin right, essential for self-defense in a chaotic world, and point to the troll incursion as proof.
"We cannot rely on the National Guard to protect us," said Elder Gnarltooth, brandishing a dagger barely larger than a toothpick. "Every goblin has the right to defend their home, their family and their fermented mushroom stash."
Opponents warn that arming the populace with miniature weapons will lead to more accidents, petty disputes escalating into armed conflict and a general decline in public safety.
"Have you seen how clumsy goblins are?" one citizen asked at a heated town hall. "Imagine a drunk goblin with a toothpick-sized sword."
Nobody can agree on what counts as an extremely small arm. Some say anything smaller than a breadbox. Others would limit it to weapons that fit in a pocket or a sock.
The Council is divided as usual. Elder Fungella, a self-proclaimed pacifist, fears for goblin society. Elder Gurglax supports the right to bear arms of any size.
"A goblin's right to defend themselves is sacred," he said, demonstrating his collection of miniature crossbows and slingshots. "And who wouldn't want to see a troll taken down by a swarm of angry bees fired from a thimble-sized cannon?"
The trolls, for their part, have asked to be allowed to bear extremely large arms. They already do.
