GNN Special Report: Goblin Clowncil Inauguration Marks New Era of Laughter and (Hopefully) Less Mayhem

Published: May 16, 2025 at 3:30 PM

Mudwick Isle is buzzing ahead of the inauguration of its newly revamped governing body, the Goblin Clowncil of Elders. The four elders are embracing new roles as purveyors of laughter, mischief and questionable decision-making.

The ceremony is scheduled for high noon, or whenever the elders wake up from their fermented mushroom hangovers, and will include:

  • The Clowncil Costume Contest: Elders Gnarltooth, Fungella and Gurglax compete for Most Ridiculous Outfit, judged by a complex algorithm involving glitter, slime and the number of mismatched socks.
  • The Pie-Throwing Extravaganza: Citizens may hurl pies of questionable ingredients at the Clowncilors, a gesture of both affection and frustration.
  • A musical tribute to Grungle: A band of tone-deaf goblins performs his greatest hits, including "Ode to a Fermented Mushroom" and "The Ballad of the Lost Submarine."
  • The Oath of Office (Slightly Modified): The Clowncilors swear to uphold the Goblin Constitution, or the parts they have not lost or used as toilet paper, to serve with laughter and questionable wisdom, and never to take themselves seriously.

The newly appointed fourth Clowncilor, Gnargrak the Ancient, is expected to miss the ceremony because of an unexpected nap. A life-sized cardboard cutout will accept the ceremonial squirting flower and the Jester of the Realm award on his behalf.

GNN will carry the inauguration live, with interviews, expert analysis and the occasional prank call from Gigglesnout, phoning in from somewhere inside the Goblin Protection Program. He is rumored to be plotting a comeback, and has already called twice to deny it.
