The Goblin Council of Elders has used martial law to arrest Gnargleboggle the Skeptical, the outspoken goblin known for predicting the Council's questionable decisions and uncovering its hidden agendas.
The Goblin National Guard, which appears to have found its standard-issue weapons, picked him up in the middle of an impassioned speech on government overreach and fermented mushroom regulation. The charges: "excessive accuracy," "insubordination" and "possible gnome ancestry."
In a hastily released statement, the Council said his constant questioning and "unpatriotic" spreading of factual information were undermining the nation's stability and morale.
"Gnargleboggle's incessant skepticism and his obsession with the truth are a threat to national security," said Elder Gnarltooth. "He is a troublemaker, a rabble-rouser and a potential gnome sympathizer. The 'GN' in his name is clearly a sign of gnomish heritage."
Gnarltooth's own name was not discussed.
The Council has ordered an investigation into Gnargleboggle's lineage in the hope of finding gnome ancestry to discredit him. He is in solitary confinement, reportedly watching a loop of propaganda videos on the virtues of the Council and the dangers of critical thinking.
A small but vocal group of dissidents calls the arrest an attack on free speech. Most goblins, weary of the chaos and eager for a predictable level of it, support the Council. Gnargleboggle predicted this too.
