The Goblin Council of Elders has declared mud pits a relic of the past and ordered every one of them drained, sanitized and filled with the finest imported sand. Farewell mud wrestling, hello sandcastles.
Citing hygiene, safety and goblin dignity, the Council denounced mud wrestling as a "barbaric" and "unrefined" pastime, supposedly inherited from trolls.
"Mud wrestling is a stain on our proud heritage," said Elder Gnarltooth. "It's time for a more sophisticated form of recreation, one that promotes creativity, cooperation and clean fun."
Traditionalists are furious. "Mud is in our blood!" cried Grungemud, a veteran wrestler and owner of the Muddy Mayhem pit. "We've wrestled in the mud for generations, and the Council won't take away our right to get dirty."
Others question the logistics. "Where are we getting all this sand?" asked Grungledigger, an excavation expert. "And who's paying for it?"
The Council promises the new sandboxes will be "a sight to behold," with goblins frolicking, building elaborate castles and holding friendly sculpture contests. Grungemud has already announced the first Muddy Mayhem Sand Wrestling Invitational. He plans to add water.
