A group of progressive goblin linguists has proposed a radical overhaul of goblin naming: letting goblin names begin with letters other than G.
"It's time to break the shackles of conformity," proclaimed Grungle Grammarguts, lead linguist of the reform movement. "Why should every goblin name start with G? It's archaic, limiting and frankly boring. We need the full alphabet, A to Z."
Traditionalists call it an attack on goblin identity.
"This is madness," cried Elder Gnarltooth. "Goblin names have always started with G. It's what makes us goblins. If we start naming our children Bertha and Xavier, what's next? Pants? Tea with our pinkies up?"
The debate has spilled onto GoblinNet. Traditionalists argue that the G sound is inherently goblin, evoking growling, grunting and general guttural goodness. Progressives say a one-letter rule stifles self-expression. A small third faction has pointed out that the reformers' leader is named Grungle Grammarguts.
The Council has not taken a position, but sources say it is leaning toward a compromise: a limited number of non-G names, with G still in charge.
