GNN's lead correspondent, Grubgork, who since the canon decree has also been doing the job of lead editor, survived an assassination attempt this morning.
A lone goblin in a crudely drawn Guy Fawkes mask, reeking of fermented mushroom stew, got into GNN headquarters carrying a rusty cleaver and a suspicious-looking potion and headed for Grubgork's office.
GNN's crack security team, a squad of highly trained goblins armed with fly swatters and stale bread rolls, stopped the attacker in the hallway. After a brief, intense scuffle, the assailant was taken into custody.
"I will not be silenced!" Grubgork declared in a live broadcast from an undisclosed location, voice trembling with indignation. "GNN will keep bringing you the truth, whatever the cost! Even if it means facing down a smelly masked goblin with a questionable grasp of the culinary arts!"
The motive is unclear. Theories include an angry viewer, a jealous rival network, and the mole people, who were heard laughing under the floor during the scuffle.
GNN will not be intimidated. The bread rolls have been commended and returned to the cafeteria.
