Unrest is sweeping Rigatonia after dozens of goblins were struck down by a batch of spiked marinara sauce. The outbreak, blamed on Gigglesnout's covert mission, kept the island's outhouses booked solid for a week and has set off calls for vengeance and a holy war against Mudwick Isle.
Most Reformed Pastafarians still back peace and diplomacy. A growing extremist faction, the Marinara Martyrs, wants a violent response. Its members call the spiking a deliberate act of aggression and a blasphemous attack on their sacred food source.
"They have spiked our marinara, and they shall pay in blood!" a masked goblin told a crowd of protesters outside the Rigatonian council chambers. "We will not rest until the heretics of Mudwick Isle are punished for their crimes against the Flying Spaghetti Monster!"
The Martyrs have begun a campaign of intimidation against goblin businesses and anyone with ties to Mudwick Isle. They have raided Orthodox Pastafarian temples, defacing statues of the Flying Spaghetti Monster and replacing them with grotesque, marinara-stained effigies of Grungle.
The Rigatonian council has condemned the violence and called for calm, to little effect.
On Mudwick Isle, the Goblin Council of Elders dismisses the threats as "empty rhetoric" and "pixie propaganda." It has suggested the outbreak was self-inflicted, a result of Rigatonia's "subpar culinary standards," and has offered to send a cookbook.
