A wave of innovation is sweeping the Goblin Nation, thanks to a new import from its Chinese trade partners: duct tape. The adhesive, previously unknown to goblin tinkerers, has turned piles of junk into functional, if questionable, contraptions.
GNN reports a surge in DIY projects as goblins of every age and skill level join the duct tape revolution: makeshift catapults, rickety go-karts, and elaborate Rube Goldberg machines that take eleven steps to dispense one fermented mushroom snack.
"Duct tape is a gift from the gods!" said one goblin inventor, displaying his latest creation, a self-propelled wheelbarrow powered by a hamster wheel and a questionable array of gears and pulleys. "It's the missing ingredient we've been searching for!"
The Goblin Council of Elders, initially skeptical of this "human technology," has embraced it. It has commissioned a duct-tape defense system for Mudwick Isle, complete with sticky traps, booby-trapped catapults and a giant inflatable decoy of Elder Gnarltooth, for distraction purposes.
Not everyone is thrilled. Environmentalists worry about the adhesive's impact on the island's delicate ecosystem, and traditionalists mourn the loss of "authentic" craftsmanship.
"Back in my day," grumbled a grizzled old goblin, "we built our contraptions with spit, mud and the occasional bat wing. We didn't need no fancy human glue."
Goblin inventors are already testing new applications, from waterproof clothing to self-healing armor. The grizzled old goblin has been taped to a chair until he comes around.
