A delegation of Chinese diplomats visited Mudwick Isle this week, bearing gifts and a newfound admiration for the Goblin Nation's dedication to carbohydrates. Impressed by the goblins' enthusiasm for noodles, dumplings and other starchy delights, the diplomats presented the Goblin Council of Elders with a set of solid gold chopsticks.
"We have long admired the goblins' unwavering commitment to the consumption of carbohydrates," said the lead diplomat, demonstrating proper chopstick technique over a plate of steaming noodles. "These chopsticks are a symbol of our respect for your noble culinary traditions."
The Council, always eager for shiny trinkets and free food, put the chopsticks to use immediately.
"These are amazing!" said Elder Gnarltooth, mouth full of noodles. "No more messy fingers, no more slurping sounds. We can now devour our noodles with the grace and elegance befitting our esteemed positions." He slurped.
The gift has sparked a nationwide noodle frenzy as goblins rush to acquire chopsticks of their own. Noodle restaurants report record sales, fermented mushroom pasta prices have skyrocketed, and GNN has launched a cooking show devoted to innovative noodle recipes, including a controversial dish of fried spider legs with an eyeball garnish.
The diplomats have hinted at further exchanges, including a culinary exchange program and a joint venture to breed a fermented mushroom with a distinctly Chinese flavor profile. Two of the gold chopsticks have since gone missing from the Council chambers. The Council has blamed the pixies.
