Mysterious Goblin Thief "Slithers" Into Council Seat, Elders Declare Her Fifth Member

The Council of Elders has welcomed a new member, a mysterious figure who goes by the name "Slythe," to the surprise of Parliament.

Slythe, a shadowy goblin, appeared in the Council Chambers before the elders arrived for their meeting. Asked what she was doing there, she grinned, showing sharpened teeth.

"I snuck in," she said, with a chuckle. "It's what I do best."

The elders, at first taken aback by the brazen display of thievery, were won over by her nerve and cunning.

"Impressive," said Elder Gnarltooth, stroking his beard. "This goblin has the skills and the attitude we've been looking for. Welcome to the Council, Slythe."

The other elders, equally impressed, welcomed her warmly, with a few discreet pats on the back to check what she was carrying. They saw her value at once: espionage, infiltration and the acquisition of valuable and possibly illicit treasures.

Parliament, still reeling from the elders' acceptance of its nomination, issued a statement of confusion and dismay. "We have no idea who this Slythe is," it read. "We conducted a thorough search for qualified candidates, and her name never appeared on our list. We demand a full explanation."

The elders dismissed the complaint. "Slythe is our new colleague, and that's final," said Elder Fungella. "We don't need Parliament's approval to decide our own membership. Besides, who better to represent the goblin people than a master thief?"

The Council then adjourned to a feast of stolen delicacies and fermented mushroom ale. Parliament was left to stew and plan its next move.
