A massive aid package from China has reached the Goblin Nation for the thousands left homeless by the gambling crisis. The contents have raised eyebrows.
Most of it is recycled cardboard boxes, millions of them, billed as "eco-friendly" shelters.
"Better than sleeping in a puddle," said Grungle Flankmire, now a resident of a cardboard village. "But I wouldn't mind a window, or a door that doesn't flap open every time the wind blows."
The rest is iPod Nanos, each loaded with audiobooks on Maoist ideology, translated into a series of grunts and squeals that goblins can supposedly understand.
"China is using our misfortune to indoctrinate our most vulnerable," said Grunglewart, a political analyst.
Others are grateful for the distraction. "It's something to do besides staring at the walls," shrugged Grublina, who was seen in the cardboard village listening to chapter four between GGG board meetings. "Maybe I'll learn something about revolution."
The Goblin Council of Elders thanked China and promised the nation would never become a puppet state.
"We will not compromise our independence or our goblin identity," Elder Gnarltooth said. "We will chart our own path, even if it means living in cardboard boxes and listening to Maoist audiobooks." He had an iPod in each ear.
