The Council of Elders' two previously scandal-free members, Elder Gurglax and Elder Fungella, have been seen at the Goblin Gaming Group's nightclub, The Groovy Grotto.
Witnesses report seeing them several times, sipping fermented mushroom cocktails, dancing to goblin techno and entering the occasional limbo contest, with varying success.
Asked about it, the elders feign ignorance and change the subject to charity.
"Groovy Grotto? Never heard of it," said Elder Gurglax, adjusting his ceremonial robes and hastily polishing a shiny bauble. "But I can tell you about our fundraising for the Goblin Orphanage for Mischievous Misfits. We've raised enough gold for a lifetime supply of fermented blueberries and a trampoline for the mud pit."
Elder Fungella gave a passionate speech on community outreach and the Council's support for goblin arts. "We sponsored a goblin poetry slam," she said, her voice echoing through the chambers. "The winning poem was a haiku about the existential dread of laundry day. It was truly moving."
Opinion is divided. Some applaud the charity. Others accuse the elders of hypocrisy and secrecy. The Group has said nothing, and keeps the elders' patronage. The line between goblin politics and goblin nightlife is getting hard to find.
