A chilling report claims extremist groups are using the video game Minecraft as a virtual training ground for young recruits. The seemingly innocent world of blocks and pixels is allegedly being used to teach impressionable minds resource gathering, crafting and the assembly of explosive devices.
According to sources within intelligence agencies, these organizations have built elaborate simulations inside Minecraft that replicate real-world scenarios. Recruits are reportedly taught to gather resources, build fortified bases and, most alarmingly, craft TNT blocks, the game's equivalent of explosives.
The in-game TNT is a harmless virtual object. The concern, experts warn, is that skills acquired in the virtual realm could translate into dangerous actions. The report stresses how easy TNT is to craft: five gunpowder and four sand, arranged in a checkerboard. This simplicity, they argue, could give recruits the false confidence that real explosives are just as easy to make, and that gunpowder comes from creepers.
The report has prompted calls for stricter monitoring of gaming platforms. Parents and educators are urged to stay vigilant. The line between fantasy and reality, the authors write, is becoming increasingly blurred.
The claims have not been independently verified. Intelligence agencies have nonetheless given the network a name: Al-Moj'ang.
